My Journey of Faith, Determination and Miraculous Healing
When I was a child, I had decided that I was going to overcome life in a wheelchair long before I ever walked. Nobody could talk me out of my belief or change my mind. I wasn't going to listen to anyone who said anything different. I told anyone who would listen that Jesus had healed my feet, even though I sat in that chair for three and a half years.
Overcoming Life in a Wheelchair: Struggles and Determination
Looking back at my life in the wheelchair, it was filled with discomfort. People would push me from behind, and I was powerless to stop them. I was stolen from a department store by a group of teenagers and dumped outside on the sidewalk. Children would tease me behind my back, slapping the back of my head. I couldn't turn over in my bed on my own or get up in the night to go to the bathroom. I was determined and refused to give in or stop. Life in a wheelchair was not an option.
Faith to Move Mountains: The Power of Belief
Faith to move a mountain is not about prayer. It is about belief. Drawing a line in the sand.
A proclamation of how things are.
When my church announced a contest to win a Bible, God showed me the way to receive my miracle of overcoming life in a wheelchair. You can read about that in another blog of mine,, You Were Created With Purpose.
And Jesus said unto them in Mathew 16:20,
“Because of your unbelief; for verily I say unto you, if ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, ‘Remove hence to yonder place,’ and it shall remove. And nothing shall be impossible unto you.
Faith in Action: Persisting is the key to Success
When I was pregnant with my son Joshua, there were no apartments available for single mothers. The Director informed me that waiting list was quite long, about a year... I had three weeks til he would be born!
I made a radical decision. Every day I brought his morning coffee at 8 am and sat in the waiting room until closing. He asked me how long I would keep that up. I replied, until they had a place for me. It took about a week.
God gave me the idea, but then I actually had to do it in order for it to happen.
He put another parable before them, in Mathew 13:31-32 saying,
“The kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard seed that a man took and sowed in his field. It is the smallest of all seeds, but when it has grown it is larger than all the garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches.”
This is Faith in Action. Persistence.
If you research Mustard trees, the seeds are incredibly small but the roots they grow are incredibly mighty. They have a tap root system. In the Tap root system, the primary roots grow inside the soil and bear lateral roots called secondary roots, and tertiary roots. They can pull rock apart (a form of mechanical weathering). Roots follow nooks and crannies along in the subsurface and, as they get older, expand. Root expansion pulls and pries apart rock. Mustard trees grow best in cool weather, even a light frost improves the flavor.
Conclusion: Embrace Faith and Persistence in Your Life
My journey from the wheelchair to walking, has taught me that Faith and Persistence can move mountains. No matter how small your mustard seed of faith may seem, it can grow into a mighty tree with deep roots that can overcome any obstacle. Believe in your miracles, and take action with unwavering determination.
